Fig: 10 questions answered………
Do you make all this yourself?
No!!! There are always six makers in fig. Five permanent and one guest. We sell silver jewellery, screenprints, textile pictures, lampshades, cushions and glass ornaments and jewellery.
Have you been here long?
We’ve been here since 2009 and we were the first craft and art shop to open on this stretch of the Gloucester Road.
Do you sell art from other artists?
We have recently decided to take in guest makers for three-six month periods. We don’t have much wall space to we prefer 3D artists. Contact us if you’re interested in selling your work at fig.
Is all the work handmade?
Yes! We take great pride in being an art and craft shop where everything is made by us.
Are all the artists at fig from Bristol?
Yes, all of us are local artists although our guest maker may sometimes come from another part of the country.
Do you sell picture frames?
We don’t sell frames on their own but we can arrange for prints and artwork we sell to be framed. We recommend Niche Frames in Stokes Croft for their variety and skill.
What metal is the jewellery made from?
All Jemima’s silver jewellery is made from sterling silver. She suggests keeping it in its box when it’s not being worn to protect from tarnishing.
Do you take commissions?
Yes! We love the chance to try out something new and we are always open to suggestions. Sometimes this can lead to something really new and exciting so it’s always worth asking.
When do you open?
We’re open between 9.30am and 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday and we occasionally open on Sundays and evenings in December. Don’t be shy, come on in!
Do you sell online?
No, but some of the artists sell through their own websites. It’s always worth calling fig and asking.
